Barstool Sports Radio Host & Retired New York Jets Willie Colon to Host Annual Willie Colon Charity Golf Outing

NEW YORK (May 6, 2019) — The Lupus Research Alliance is proud to partner with former New York Jets offensive lineman Willie Colon for the fifth annual Willie Colon Charity Golf Outing crafted by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.  The event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars to support a lupus research grant named in honor of Mr. Colon’s mother Jean Davis, who has lupus.

Held at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, New Jersey, the Outing is the premier golf event in the New York Metro Area — bringing together leaders from finance, banking, professional sports and entertainment.

Players who attended included: current New York Jets teammates Quincy Enuwa, Brent Qvale and Brian Winters as well as former Jets Greg Buttle, David Harris, D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Breno Giacomini, Nick Mangold and Bart Scott.  Other professional players and celebrities attending included Mike Adams, Chris Canty, Rick DiPietro, Anita Marks,   Ben Roethlisberger (Big Ben) Max Starks.

Every golfer had the unique experience of playing a round of golf with either a current or former professional athlete or individuals from the entertainment industry. The golf day began at 11:30 am with brunch and practice. Shotgun start began at 1:00 pm followed by dinner and awards presentation at 5:30 pm.  A silent auction featured items of particular interest to sports fans ranging from a premium Super Bowl trip to autographed memorabilia. Willie Colon, Champion for the Lupus Cause
The Golf Outing is just one way Mr. Colon supports the lupus community and the Lupus Research Alliance.

“Innovative research is the only way to meet the critical need for better treatments for lupus, and the Lupus Research Alliance is in its own league as the largest private funder worldwide,” commented Mr. Colon.  “I am proud to help them tackle lupus and score a big win for my mother and the millions who share her struggle with this devastating disease.”

Mr. Colon is a radio host for the Barstool Breakfast show on SiriusXM Barstool Radio on channel 85.  He is also a studio analyst for SNY, the official television home of the New York Jets.
