The New York Jets and Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) hosted Lupus Awareness Day on November 21, 2021, at MetLife Stadium, with the Jets taking on their division rivals the Miami Dolphins. The event raised awareness of the devastating autoimmune disease and generated over $25,000 for lupus research.
The check was accepted by LRA President & CEO Kenneth M. Farber with his nephew Daniel Farber, and one of NYC’s ManyOne Can. Walk with Us to Cure Lupus top fundraisers, Shanthy Hughes and her son David. Other Walk super-star fundraising teams were also at the Game and recognized on the Jets video board for their support in the fight against lupus.
The press release from The Jets noted the following: “The Jets are deeply committed to supporting the Lupus Research Alliance, the world’s leading private funder of innovative research that results in new treatments that make a difference for people living with lupus… With the organization’s support, pioneering investigations have led to significant discoveries that are leading the way to better diagnostics, improved treatments, and ultimately a cure.”
